How to feel more glamorous when you're sick on a budget
I am not sure about anyone else; but it seems when I am running 90 miles per hour, I always get sick with a sinus infection. Something about the germs that W shares from daycare are super strong and knocks me down for at least a week. It causes me to slow down and relax compared to trying to take care of everything at home on top of trying to be healthy, work a full time job and build my business up. Right now, I am on the mend after going to Urgent Care to get antibiotics. When I feel crummy, I try to do some nice things for myself to recharge and to feel glamorous compared to feeling like hammered dog poop. Here’s six tips of what I do to feel more glamorous when I’m sick.
1) Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep. Lame I know, but it does wonders for your body to heal and get back to normal.
2) Drink a fancy tea. I always feel extra bougie drinking earl grey tea or any tea that is in a fancy container. Something about it brings out my inner posh Brit. Extra points if you use a china tea cup with a saucer. You can find tea at any grocery store or online and get something high quality for under $10. Now if only I could have a cool British accent…
3) Wear a nice robe at home. While you are lamenting your ill health at home and trying to not spread your germs, wearing a nice robe or kaftan goes a long way to feeling better. I get to ward off any chills with my robe while looking a smidge put together. Etsy has some beautiful floral robes for under $40 if you are looking to add one to your wardrobe.
4) Remember to take your vitamins & supplements. Besides vitamin C, do some research on other vitamins & supplements that boost your immune system. Remember to check with your doctor to make sure that anything additional you are taking will not interact negatively to any prescriptions you may be taking. I am a huge vitamin gummy fan so Amazon helps me out with a lot of options.
5) Eat your favorite soup. It doesn’t have to be chicken noodle soup, just make sure you think it is decadent. I love La Madeline’s tomato basil bisque!
6) Watch old Hollywood movies. I love watching Casablanca from my sick pallet on the couch. There’s nothing like burrowing in a pile of quilts with my fur throw snuggled in my face watching Ingrid Bergman steal the show with her acting and amazing acting.
With the seasons changing and pollen in full bloom, I hope you find these helpful when you feel sickness coming on. What do you do to feel more glamorous when you are sick? Please leave a comment or email at hello@spitfireandstarlight.com.
