What is in my self-care basket

What is in my self-care basket

I hope everyone is taking a moment to do something for themselves at least once a week. I have found as a mama to a toddler that it can be a struggle to set aside some time just for you. I have found that it is hard to pour from an empty cup. For this self-care Sunday after putting my little to bed, I am watching one of my Netflix obsessions, The Crown, while drinking a glass of champagne and snacking on some thin mints. It doesn’t take much to take your self-care up to the next level. For example, my champagne is in a Waterford crystal flute that we got at Home-Goods for under $40 for a set of 4 and I’m snuggled under a faux-fur throw that I got last week for $25 at Home-Goods. Can you see a pattern here? If you aren’t sure where to start on self-care, I suggest pulling together a few items and make a self-care basket. They are super easy to do and very easy to keep under whatever budget works best for you. Here’s what I currently have in my self-care basket:

1)      A cute basket – The one pictured is a sea-grass basket from Home-Goods. They have lots of basket options and are very reasonably priced. Joann’s and Hobby Lobby also have a good selection and usually have coupons or sales going on.

2)      Linen spray – The one I currently have is a lavender vanilla scent from Home-Goods. I randomly bought it one day while I was waiting in line to check out and spotted it while gazing off wishing that time would go faster. It was $4 and a steal. It helps kick off my winding down routine.

3)      Quality foot lotion – I struggle with dry, cracked heels and usually forget to put lotion on; but it is nice to have it nearby.

4)      Gratitude journal – If you are in a funk or stressed out most of the time, writing down five things you are grateful each day goes a long way to turning your attitude around.

5)      Candle – Candles help me relax and there are so many choices in scent to pick from. I am sensitive to certain fragrance notes so I am usually picky on the scents I have in our home.

6)      Back massager – This little beauty is one I picked up from the Target deal section during Christmas time for $5! I hold most of my stress from my job in my shoulders so this helps a lot in getting the knots out.

7)      Coloring book & colored pencils – For those more creative types, doing something artistic helps you unwind.

8)      Tiger balm – Last but not least is Tiger Balm. I found this to work a lot better for me than Ben-gay or Biofreeze. I have arthritis in my hands and when it really acts up, this is the only thing that works.

I hope this helps give you some inspiration on what you would like to include in your self-care basket!

Until next time,

Megan
