Top 5 essentials for your weight loss journey

Top 5 essentials for your weight loss journey

Hey, hey y’all!

As part of this year’s theme, I’m working on getting my health right and a good portion of that for me is losing weight, specially for me 100 pounds. Being a type 1 diabetic now and having PCOS has given some different challenges I’m navigating through. Honestly, it’s a bit overwhelming but you have to start somewhere. I’m hoping if something works for me that it could possibly help someone else because it can be a lot.

I’m getting that process going but I thought I’d share what five things I am using that have been helpful so far. Things I would consider essential to being successful on my weight loss journey that have been easy to incorporate so far. Because if it isn’t super easy, it ain’t for me at this point in time.

1) A Renpho health smart scale (Amazon)

I’ve gotten into the habit of weighing myself each day. I love all of the data that it gives you and it even shows you your hydration level which affects so many areas of health.

2) Hydromate Water jug (Amazon)

Another Amazon purchase but this helps give me a visual on where I am at on water intake. I really struggle drinking water so the Hydromate has helped improve that some.

3) MyFitnessPal app

I have the premium version that helps me track my calories and carb levels. You are able to do a macro view if you are tracking that way, but I haven’t gotten to that level yet.

4) Workout shoes (Amazon, Academy, etc.)

Having good shoes that support your feet while exercising is key. I used to do a lot of long distance running a few years back and got a foot evaluation. They let you know if you have arch issues or if your foot rolls in vs. out when your foot hits the ground. The reason this is important is you have to have differently designed shoes if you roll out or your likelihood of fracturing a toe increases. Ask me how I know 😂. Fleet Feet does the evaluation in my area; but definitely check it out and take care of your feet!

5) Wearable movement tracker aka a smart watch, Fitbit, Garmin etc.

The biggest thing is to get moving and having my steps tracked has been an eye opener for sure. I thought I was moving more than I actually am. Depending on the exercise you enjoy doing, walking to get those 10k steps consistently is key to making an impact.

I hope this was helpful for getting started on the basics. As I try and find new things that helps me on my 100 pound weight loss journey, I plan on sharing what has worked and what hasn’t.

Until next time,

Megan
